Manchester United are among the admirers of Nottingham Forest playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White, according to The Daily Mail.
The England international had a brilliant individual season with the Tricky Trees, scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists (25 goal contributions).
Despite his fine campaign, England manager Thomas Tuchel snubbed him for the World Cup.
The 26-year-old will receive a much-needed break this summer, and it remains to be seen whether he will continue at Forest next season.
The Daily Mail claim that Man Utd and Aston Villa are among the player’s admirers, but both clubs have his favoured number 10 position covered.
However, Unai Emery’s side could enter the race for Gibbs-White if Arsenal or Chelsea were to step up their transfer interest and sign Morgan Rogers.
United unlikely to enter race for Gibbs-White
The Red Devils are in the transfer market for an attacking signing, but the priority is expected to be given to bolstering the left wing department.
Gibbs-White has hardly played as a winger in his career. He is a specialist attacking midfielder who can occasionally operate as a number eight.
United currently have captain Bruno Fernandes, who is an undisputed starter in the number 10 role. He generally tends to play the entire 90 minutes.
The club have a top-notch deputy in Mason Mount, but he has barely featured in his preferred position since manager Michael Carrick took charge.
Mount did make a couple of starts towards the end of the campaign, but both of those were from the heart of the midfield in Casemiro’s absence.
Aside from a left winger, United are likely to prioritise another marquee defensive midfielder despite the recent agreement to land Atalanta’s Ederson.
An attacking midfielder does not appear to be a necessity for United unless they make the surprise decision to offload Mount, which seems unlikely.
