Man United Women vs Arsenal Women: Preview, team news, where to watch

Manchester United Women face Arsenal in the Women’s Super League at Leigh Sports Village on Sunday afternoon.

United recorded a 5-1 victory at London City last weekend to continue their perfect start to the campaign.

They also beat Norwegian side Brann 3-1 on aggregate on Thursday to qualify for the Women’s Champions League for the first time in the club’s history.

Arsenal have started the season brilliantly, winning their opening two league games and only trailing United on goal difference.

Match preview

United head into the clash buoyed by confidence after securing Champions League qualification.

However, the Gunners are favourites for this clash. They are the Champions League holders and finished second last term, four points ahead of United.

In addition, Man United have yet to record a home victory against the Gunners since the 2022/2023 season. They will aim to end that record in this encounter.

This match has the potential to be entertaining, given the attacking prowess of both sides – they have scored nine goals apiece in their first two league games. Also, none of their previous meetings ended in a goalless draw.

United are hoping to get a victory to send a strong message to the rest of the division.

Team news

Coach Marc Skinner hopes to have Celin Bizet Donnum back after missing the Brann’s fixture, but it remains to be seen whether Jayde Riviere will feature after coming off with a knock on Thursday.

Millie Turner, Leah Galton and Simi Awujo are expected to miss out for Man United.

Arsenal will be without Leah Williamson, but coach Renee Slegers is ‘positive‘ about Chloe Kelly recovering from her ‘little knock’.

Where to watch

It will be broadcast live on BBC One and the WSL YouTube channel. There will also be radio commentary on the United App.
