Man United to wait ‘until transfer deadline day’ to sign midfielder Manuel Ugarte

Manchester United are determined to sign a new midfielder before the transfer window closes.

United have honed in on Manuel Ugarte but Paris Saint-Germain’s £51 million valuation is proving a tough hurdle.

The Red Devils are trying to offload Scott McTominay but are waiting for a fresh offer from Fulham.

The Cottagers have bid £20m for the Scotland international, but United are demanding £30m to let him leave.

According to the Guardian, United are ready to wait until the transfer deadline day to try to sign Ugarte.

The Premier League giants do not need to sell McTominay or any other squad member to finance a deal for the PSG midfielder.

United are playing the waiting game with the hope that the French club will lower their asking price for the midfielder.

PSG have bolstered their midfield ranks by signing Joao Neves from Benfica in a £51m deal. The 19-year-old is a sensational talent and could be a future superstar.

Due to the rumours surrounding his immediate future, Ugarte was not included in their season opener.

United can afford to wait until the deadline day to sign Ugarte with Casemiro in the squad.

The Brazil international starred alongside Kobbie Mainoo in United’s 1-0 win over Fulham last Friday.

He looks much more fit and fresh after having a solid pre-season with the club.

United must sign a defensive midfielder this season as they cannot trust Casemiro to anchor the midfield long-term.

With a solid defence behind him, Casemiro is expected to perform better this term.

However, expecting him to maintain peak performance throughout the gruelling campaign without a dip is unrealistic.
