Man United to play Real Betis in San Diego on July 31 as part of pre-season tour of the United States

Manchester United have announced a pre-season match against Real Betis at the Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego on July 31.

System-on-a-chip (SoC) semiconductor producer Snapdragon will take over as United’s shirt sponsor next season.

The Red Devils return to the United States for pre-season preparations this summer, where they will face Premier League heavyweights Arsenal and Liverpool, with the Betis fixture sandwiched in between.

United faced Arsenal in the US last summer and beat the Gunners 2-0 in New Jersey while setting the record for the highest-grossing club football game at the venue.

A rematch is on the cards at the stunning 70,000-seater SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on July 27, which promises to be a thrilling affair in another boisterous stadium.

After facing Arsenal, United will take on the La Liga club four days later as they ramp up preparations for the 2024/25 season.

Betis sit seventh in La Liga and will give United a run for their money.

After the Betis match-up, United clash with Liverpool for the first time on US soil on August 3 at the University of South Carolina’s (USC) William Brice Stadium.

The fixture between the two Premier League giants is projected to break the record for the biggest club football game ever played at the near-80,000-capacity stadium.

Several English clubs have used their pre-season preparations as a marketing move, tapping into America’s growing interest in the league.

United will be looking to take advantage of the football fever gripping the US ahead of the 2025 Club World Cup and the 2026 World Cup hosted in the US, Mexico and Canada.

Their visit to the US helps create a platform for American fans to engage with their beloved club. It also allows the club to garner new fans from one of the most popular and pivotal markets.
