Bruno Fernandes is a world-class talent. Since joining Manchester United in January 2020, he’s scored 22 goals and registering 14 assists in 37 appearances. Mind you, he’s a midfielder. And his performances have been rewarded with a new contract offer that will double his wages. [source: Mirror]
Fernandes arrived at Old Trafford in January for a reported £47m fee on a four-and-a-half-year deal. 11 months into the contract and United have offered to double his wages. That’s quite a statement of his impact.
This is fair to Fernandes as he’s become United’s best player since he arrived. Clubs’ top earners David De Gea and Paul Pogba earn £350,000-a-week and £300,000-a-week respectively. Fernandes’ new deal will be worth £200,000-a-week and United hopes it will fend off interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid.
As Fernandes’ reputation at Old Trafford rises, other top teams will look to swoop him away. To ensure Fernandes stays, its important to keep him happy.
Fernandes is a fan favourite and is Solskjaer’s best signing. He’s become the talisman United desperately needed. He’s got the right attitude and quality which a top team needs.
Fernandes is not earning enough when fringe player Jesse Lingard and club’s no.2 keeper Dean Henderson earn the same amount as him. If he keeps playing this way, don’t be surprised if United offer him another contract in 2021.
