Man United star Raphael Varane could soon learn about his Old Trafford future

Manchester United defender Raphael Varane could soon have an answer about his Old Trafford future.

The Premier League approved Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition of 25 percent of United on Tuesday.

The Manchester Evening News reported earlier today that the Red Devils have delayed the contract decisions of several players including Varane.

The Frenchman wants to see out his four-year contract which expires in June.

Erik ten Hag admitted last week that the Red Devils have not made any decision yet on Varane’s future.

With the INEOS deal ratified by the Premier League, the new co-owners will act swiftly on contract renewals.

The former Real Madrid man is the highest earner at the club with £340,000-a-week wages.

The United hierarchy would ideally want to offer a new deal to the centre-back, but only on reduced terms.

Varane has two options – either accept a significant pay cut to pen a renewal or leave the club on a free transfer.

Saudi Pro League giants Al-Nassr are reportedly willing to offer a £50 million per year contract to the world-class defender.

A move to Saudi is possible if Varane and Man United fail to reach an agreement by the end of the season.

The 30-year-old lost his starting spot to Harry Maguire earlier this season.

However, injuries to other players allowed him to make a comeback. He has started in nine of the past 11 games for the club.

His importance has further increased due to the absence of Lisandro Martinez.

United also need to decide on Jonny Evans’ future. The veteran defender was signed as a free agent before the start of this season.
