Man United star Matheus Cunha picks up an assist in Brazil’s 5-0 win over South Korea

Manchester United stars Casemiro and Matheus Cunha played crucial roles in helping Brazil register the 5-0 win over South Korea in an international friendly.

Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti lined his side up in a 4-2-3-1, with Cunha trusted to spearhead the attack.

Estevao and Rodrygo each struck twice on either side of the break before Vinicius Junior sealed the rout with Brazil’s fifth.

Cunha played for 80 minutes, completing 24 of his 29 passes with composure.

He frequently dropped into deeper areas to link play, creating space for Estevao and Vinicius to thrive in advanced wide positions.

The United forward created three chances, more than any other player on the pitch.

He also nailed both of his attempted long balls and chipped in defensively with two tackles.

His biggest contribution came in the 77th minute, when he notched an assist for Vinicius’ goal.

The 26-year-old was quick to spot the run of the Real Madrid star at the half-way line.

Cunha played a perfectly weighted pass into his path, as he made a blistering run before slotting the ball calmly past the goalkeeper.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers ace may have added another assist in the first half after a slick exchange with Estevão on the right flank.

After receiving the ball back from the Chelsea ace, Cunha whipped in a superb low cross for Vinicius, but the Madrid man wasted it with an audacious back-heel attempt.

It was an industrious performance as a false nine from Cunha that could make United head coach Ruben Amorim very happy.

Cunha completed his switch to Old Trafford earlier this summer.

He has been bright in flashes but remains unlucky not to score in seven games.

He hit the woodwork against Arsenal and came close to scoring at Fulham.

The Brazilian is averaging nearly four shots per Premier League game, but sharp finishing still eludes him.

With Benjamin Sesko regularly starting up front for the Red Devils, Cunha will be able to play in his favoured number 10 position.

Amorim will hope this international boost can finally translate into an end product for United after the break, when his side travels to Anfield to clash with Liverpool.
