Man United sign 16-year-old midfielder David Eze from Man City

Manchester United have announced the signing of young midfielder David Eze.

Eze joins the Red Devils after leaving Manchester City. He becomes the second teenager to join United from Man City in recent days following Karim Cassim’s arrival.

Eze is a box-to-box midfielder who is confident in possession and press-resistant. He is also adept at carrying the ball and producing line-breaking passes.

He joined the Cityzens at a very young age and distinguished himself in the club’s youth ranks, attracting the interest of Man United and Arsenal.

Eze has has received 13 call-ups for England at U13 and U14 level, but is reportedly still open to representing the Republic of Ireland, the country of his birth.

The 16-year-old will now be hoping to continue his development at Man United.

Eze is expected to join Darren Fletcher’s U18 side, who have enjoyed a brilliant start to the season, collecting 12 points from their opening five games in the U18 Premier North.

The England youngster has yet to make his debut at that level, but could still prove a useful addition for Fletcher’s side.

His quality in and without possession would help the young Reds control games and break down defences.

Eze will face stiff competition for a place in the starting XI, including Jacey Carrick, the son of manager Michael Carrick, and in-form Jay McEvoy.

The Republic of Ireland-born midfielder could make his U18 league debut when the Red Devils take on Nottingham Forest on October 17.

It could be an opportunity for Eze to show Fletcher what he can offer after making the move across Manchester.
