Man United set to sign Matheus Cunha this weekend

Manchester United are accelerating their pursuit of a marquee forward to ignite their rebuild.

According to Sky Sports News journalist Kaveh Solhekol, Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha is set to join Man United after the season ends this weekend.

Cunha “wants to play for United” and the deal is “almost agreed” between the two parties.

The Red Devils are expected to trigger the £62.5 million release clause in his contract.

Signing Cunha will be a bold statement by INEOS who have a big responsibility to deliver this summer.

The 25-year-old has been a shining light for Wolves this season, bagging 15 goals and six assists in 31 league games.

The Brazilian ace is widely expected to slot seamlessly into Amorim’s dynamic 3-4-3 formation, offering versatility and creativity in the final third.

Wolves boss Vitor Pereira has utilised the same system and Cunha has flourished in the left-sided number 10 role.

Renowned for his relentless work ethic, pressing intensity and clever vision, Cunha is the type of forward who brings energy and elegance in equal measure.

United have been too reliant on Bruno Fernandes to unlock defences and Cunha’s arrival could finally help distribute the creative burden more evenly.

To succeed at a club as big as United, one needs fighting character and spirit.

Cunha looks like a player ready to embrace the pressure and passion that come with it.

United have endured their worst season in Premier League history.

They are currently sitting in 16th place with one only game remaining.

Amorim took their the reins from Erik ten Hag late last year but he has found it tough to inspire his players.

United have performed much better in the UEFA Europa League and are just 90 minutes away from lifting the coveted silverware.

Winning the final on May 21 will not only help them secure Champions League football for next season but also boost their transfer budget.
