Manchester United have opened talks to play a mid-season friendly in Saudi Arabia.
According to the Daily Mail, United could bank more than £10 million if they strike a deal to visit Saudi Arabia this season.
Plans are being discussed for a three-way mini-tournament against Saudi giants Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal, worth £5m per game plus prize money.
Another option on the table is a showdown with a Saudi All-Star XI, while the third alternative is to visit with the Saudi royal family or GEA to hold a warm-weather training camp in Riyadh and play a one-off game for around £5m.
United have no European commitment this season after their 15th-placed finish in the Premier League last term.
The misery was compounded when they lost the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur, their last shot at continental qualification.
That failure came at a staggering cost, as they missed out on £85m in potential revenue.
A humiliating loss at Grimsby eliminated them from the Carabao Cup.
Despite all the failures on the pitch, United posted record annual revenues of £666.5m for 2024-25.
However, they still made a loss of £33m.
The Red Devils are a global brand and are now looking at innovative ideas to make money.
A visit to Saudi Arabia is lucrative not only because of financial reasons but also because the warm weather will suit the players for training.
It won’t be the first time United have taken such a decision.
They flew abroad on eight occasions to play exhibition matches last season.
After the 2024-25 campaign ended, they even travelled to Malaysia and Hong Kong to pocket a few millions.
