Man United ready to fast-track Radek Vitek into the first team after stunning loan heroics

Manchester United could turn to their academy to find a solution to one of their problematic positions.

The goalkeeping spot has been a major weakness for the Red Devils over the last two years.

Senne Lammens was signed from Royal Antwerp earlier this summer and he appears assured between the sticks.

United now need to find reliable competition for the 23-year-old to create a robust atmosphere in the squad.

According to reliable insider Sully Talkz, United have held internal talks about promoting Radek Vitek to the first team next season.

Vitek has been enjoying a sensational 2025-26 loan spell at Bristol City.

United are “delighted” with his progress and feel he is “ahead of his development.”

Vitek deserves a first-team promotion

The towering Czech goalkeeper has kept five clean sheets in 15 games, joint-third most in the Championship this season.

His save percentage of 73% is highly impressive, and is currently higher than that of Lammens this term.

Vitek has won multiple Man of the Match awards at Bristol and was recognised with the club’s Player of the Month award for August.

He has made some astonishing saves, including one “frankly ridiculous” stop against Hull City.

The 22-year-old recently revealed that he had a conversation with manager Ruben Amorim before sealing his loan transfer.

His promotion to the senior set-up would also put an end to the United careers of Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.

Onana is already on a season-long loan to Turkish outfit Trabzonspor.

Bayindir is now serving as the second-choice shot-stopper after failing to make the most of his opportunities earlier in this term.

United should cash in on both goalkeepers and allow Vitek to battle with Lammens for the coveted number-one shirt.
