Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has seen his wealth decrease over the past year, falling below Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke in the rich list.
According to the latest Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Ratcliffe’s net worth fell by over £1.5 billion to £13.87bn, placing him 110th on the list.
This comes after his £1.3bn acquisition of a 27.7% stake in Manchester United last month.
Ratcliffe’s has dropped eight places on the Index. Arsenal owner Kroenke, whose net worth remains unchanged at £13.87bn, has overtaken him.
Ratcliffe is expected to implement several changes at United on and off the pitch after vowing to challenge neighbours Manchester City and arch-rivals Liverpool.
He showed his ambitions by hiring former City Football Group recruitment chief Omar Berrada to handle football operations.
The INEOS chief also wants Newcastle United’s Dan Ashworth to join them as sporting director.
The Red Devils are also targeting Southampton director of football Jason Wilcox. The 52-year-old is highly regarded at Old Trafford and would join Ashworth’s recruitment team.
Crystal Palace sporting director Dougie Freedman is also on their target list.
They will head this new revolution targeted at returning United to their place in the upper echelons of football.
Despite Ratcliffe’s drop in wealth, his combined net worth with the Glazer family is around £17.6bn. They rank third on the list of the wealthiest owners of Premier League clubs.
Ratcliffe and the Glazers are behind Newcastle United owners Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund.
They own the club alongside RB Sports & Media and PCP Capital Partners, and their combined wealth is worth a jaw-dropping £506bn.
Man United are behind Manchester City’s Abu Dhabi United. They have an estimated worth of £17.9bn, placing them second.
Chelsea owners Todd Boehly, Clearlake Capital, Hansjorg Wyss and Mark Walter are fourth on the list with a combined net worth of around £12.5bn.
