Man United outcast Donny van de Beek set for Eintracht Frankfurt medical ahead of loan transfer

Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek will undergo a medical in the next 24 hours in a bid to complete his transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt on loan for the rest of the season.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the loan deal will be signed this week. Frankfurt will have the option to make the deal permanent but will have to fork out a €15 million fee, including €4m add-ons.

Man United signed Van de Beek in 2020 after he impressed at Ajax. However, his poor injury record prevented him from getting into the rhythm to challenge for a starting spot at Old Trafford.

The time is right for Donny van de Beek to move on

Erik ten Hag’s arrival at Man United was Van de Beek’s last chance to reignite his Old Trafford career.

The duo achieved great success at Ajax, but even Ten Hag failed to bring the best out of the midfielder at United.

The 26-year-old is currently down the midfield pecking order. Man United academy starlets Kobbie Mainoo, Hannibal and Daniel Gore are also ahead of him.

He has featured merely twice all season – both times from the bench. His last outing was a two-minute cameo against Crystal Palace in September.

Even though his contract with the Red Devils ends in 2025, Man United are eager to cash in on him and get some free space on their wage bill.

Ten Hag is not short of options in the midfield. Mainoo’s rise from the academy is equivalent to a new signing.

Casemiro, Mason Mount and Christian Eriksen are still recovering from their injuries. Their return will bolster the squad and give selection headaches to the manager.
