Man United need to keep Everton star quiet to win on Saturday – Harry Maguire

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has highlighted Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin as a big attacking threat and believes the team need to keep him quiet to secure the victory this weekend.

The Red Devils recently ended a two-match Premier League winless streak in superb fashion as they registered a stunning 9-0 win over Southampton, who finished the game with nine men.

Confidence should be high within the squad after such a result, but they face another tricky challenge against the Toffees tomorrow. The Red Devils have won just one of the previous four league meetings against them.

In the official matchday programme notes, Maguire has talked about the goalscoring threat from Calvert-Lewin and believes the club can come on top by keeping the striker quiet in front of goal.

“I know Dom from our time with England and he’s very physical and a handful, and we’ll need to be right on our game to keep him quiet,” he wrote.

“If we manage to do that, it will be a big part for us in, hopefully, taking steps towards the victory.”

Calvert-Lewin has experienced an excellent campaign with the Merseyside outfit, bagging 16 goals from just 23 appearances.

Against United this season he has been unable to score in two meetings in the league and Carabao Cup respectively and Maguire has the task of curbing the threat of the 23-year-old at Old Trafford tomorrow.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side won by a 3-1 scoreline in the reverse fixture at Goodison Park.

They are aiming to do the league double over the Toffees for the first time in three seasons.
