Man United midfielder Casemiro could start in the centre-back spot in the FA Cup semi-final

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag could be forced to start Casemiro at centre-half in place of Willy Kambwala this weekend.

The Red Devils face Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley Stadium tomorrow.

Manchester Evening News reported that Kambwala was absent from the United squad that boarded the train to London.

Sofyan Amrabat and Mason Mount were also absent, indicating potential injury concerns.

Man United are facing an injury crisis, especially in defence.

Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez and Jonny Evans are already out due to their respective injuries.

Casemiro could drop back to partner Harry Maguire

Harry Maguire is currently the only available centre-back at Ten Hag’s disposal.

With the shortage of options at the back, the manager could ask Casemiro to play as a centre-back.

Ten Hag must be frustrated with players suffering injuries this season. Having four senior centre-backs sidelined at the same time is a rare case for any team.

The Brazilian has been very poor this season and could head out the exit door this summer. He has failed to control the pace of the game, with the opposition running past him with ease.

With Casemiro potentially dropping back, Kobbie Mainoo could start in the holding midfielder spot.

Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay could support the 19-year-old in the midfield.

The United manager is battling to save his job after a tough second season at the Theatre of Dreams.

His side starts as the favourites against Coventry City tomorrow. However, a loss would pile more pressure on the Dutchman.

The FA Cup is the last opportunity for the Red Devils to claim silverware this season.
