Manchester United have been credited with an interest in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha.
United’s head of scouting, Christopher Vivell, has reportedly been in close contact with Nmecha’s agents.
United face competition from several clubs for the Germany international, including Newcastle United, who have also joined the race for his signature.
The Magpies view Nmecha as a potential successor to Bruno Guimaraes, who has been linked with Arsenal.
However, the 25-year-old prefers to join United or Manchester City, according to reliable German outlet, Bild.
The prospect of becoming a central figure at a club of United’s stature is said to be attractive to the Man City academy graduate.
Man United not prioritising a move for Nmecha
Nmecha made 29 appearances and registered five goal contributions as Dortmund finished second in the Bundesliga last term.
He is currently starring for Germany at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, ranking among the top 10 players for tackles per game at the tournament.
Described as an ‘all-action midfielder‘ by the Bundesliga website, Nmecha is capable of playing across the midfield. He is known for his athleticism and physicality, making him well-suited to the Premier League.
Despite his impressive attributes, United are not currently prioritising a move for the Dortmund midfielder.
The Red Devils appear to favour Premier League-proven players such as West Ham United’s Mateus Fernandes and Bournemouth’s Alex Scott.
After agreeing a deal for Atalanta’s Ederson, the Mancunian giants have turned their attention to Fernandes.
However, United are reluctant to meet West Ham’s £85 million asking price for the youngster. Tottenham’s interest in the Portuguese has also made it difficult to strike a deal.
Man United are also keen on Scott. They are now ‘growing increasingly optimistic‘ of signing the English midfielder despite Bournemouth’s reluctance to sell him.
Nevertheless, United may not find it easy to strike an agreement with Bournemouth, who have placed an £80m asking price on the former England youth international.
