Man United could reignite interest in signing Milos Kerkez, alternative to ‘dream solution’

Manchester United need to bolster their wing-back positions to achieve success in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Man United will sign a new left wing-back on a ‘priority’ basis next summer.

Luke Shaw last played for Manchester United in February 2024. Tyrell Malacia returned to action with the Under-21s last week after 17 months out.

Both players are injury-prone and could not be trusted in Amorim’s intense style of play.

Alphonso Davies has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford. He is touted as a ‘dream solution‘, but Real Madrid looks to be his preferred destination.

Bayern Munich also want to renew his current deal but are hoping that he will lower his astronomical wage demands.

United are interested in signing Bournemouth starlet Milos Kerkez as an alternative. The Red Devils were linked with the youngster last summer.

The 21-year-old is one of the best upcoming left-backs in the English top flight. Liverpool are also closely monitoring his situation.

Kerkez has started in all 11 league games for Bournemouth this season. He has recorded two assists and made an average of 4.4 ball recoveries per game.

He is also averaging 1.4 tackles and 1.1 interceptions per outing.

While his defensive numbers may not be outstanding, this can be attributed to the overall weakness of Bournemouth’s defensive structure.

Kerkez has the potential to shine at elite clubs but still needs to develop his overall game.

Amorim could give Harry Amass an opportunity in the next six months. If Amass grabs the chance with both hands, United could save millions of pounds next summer.
