Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is prioritising a move to Europe ahead of the Saudi Pro League if he leaves the Red Devils, according to the BBC.
The Portuguese has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, rejecting huge offers from Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad last summer.
It has been widely claimed that the Man United midfielder is ready to leave the club after the World Cup next summer and accept a Saudi offer.
However, Fernandes has no interest in moving to the Saudi Pro League at the end of the season.
He is only interested in playing in major European leagues should his time at Man United come to an end.
Fernandes has no plans of leaving the Red Devils anytime soon as he believes a top-five finish – which would see them qualify for the Champions League – is possible this term.
Man United are currently 10th in the Premier League table after seven games, with three wins and three defeats to their name.
They have yet to win back-to-back league games since head coach Ruben Amorim took over almost a year ago.
However, their fortunes on the pitch could improve when action resumes after the ongoing international break following the introduction of Senne Lammens to the starting XI.
The Belgian goalkeeper kept a clean sheet on his debut for the club against Sunderland last weekend and is expected to help improve Man United at the back.
Amorim expects Lammens to become the world’s best goalkeeper within the next three years, and a top-five finish could be possible if the Old Trafford club can finally start firing on all cylinders.
The onus is on Fernandes and his teammates to consistently deliver the goods going forward as missing out on Europe entirely for the second campaign running will be a huge blow.
