Manchester United were left red-faced after a 3-0 drubbing by Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Erik ten Hag made two changes to the side which lost against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.
Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee replaced Harry Maguire and Mason Mount.
Trent Alexander-Arnold scored for Liverpool but the goal was ruled offside.
However, United failed to stop the inevitable, with the visitors scoring twice in quick succession before the break.
Any hope of the home side making a comeback was put to bed by Mohamed Salah as he tripled Liverpool’s lead in the 56th minute.
Ten Hag rang a few changes, but his men never looked capable of even putting up a fight.
Let’s head into the player ratings.
Player Ratings
Andre Onana – 2/10
Three shots on target, three goals conceded.
He was wrong-footed for the second goal and got done at his near post for Salah’s strike. It’s high time for Onana to live up to his big statements.
Noussair Mazraoui – 4/10
The full-back was caught out of position for Luis Diaz’s goal. Took a knock but continued for 90 minutes.
Matthijs de Ligt – 5/10
De Ligt got a harsh introduction to the Premier League. He was booked for a crunching tackle on the halfway line.
Lisandro Martinez – 4/10
Martinez doesn’t look like the same player he was during his debut season at United.
He made a couple of unsuccessful passes in a bid to play out from the back but they didn’t come back to haunt them.
Diogo Dalot – 5/10
He had a solid first ten minutes, where he proved to be a great attacking asset. However, he was caught out of position during transitions like Mazraoui.
Casemiro – 0/10
Casemiro was at fault for both of the goals in the first half.
He displayed abysmal passing, lack of stamina and poor game-awareness. It is time for Casemiro to sit on the bench, maybe for the rest of the season.
Kobbie Mainoo – 3/10
Pickpocketed for the third goal and was forced to do a two-man job due to Casemiro’s inability to perform.
A tough lesson for the teenager.
Alejandro Garnacho – 4/10
His first start of the season but just didn’t see enough of the ball. He was more effective from the bench over the last two games.
Marcus Rashford – 5/10
Rashford will get maximum heat, but he created two big chances for Zirkzee to score.
It is surprising to see how short of confidence he is while taking on full-backs.
Bruno Fernandes – 4/10
New season yet the same old criticism – he falters in lifting his teammates when spirits are low.
His wild shot over the bar late on summed up his mood.
Joshua Zirkzee – 3/10
The striker is new at United, but that cannot keep him out of the firing line. He had three half chances to score but failed to beat Alisson.
He must have scored at least one of the two chances Rashford created.
Substitutes
Toby Collyer – 5/10
The 20-year-old made his league debut and could get more chances if Casemiro continues his horrific showings. He looked much better than the Brazilian ace.
Amad Diallo – 6/10
The winger showed promise in his short cameo. He should have started the game.
Harry Maguire – 6/10
Maguire shored things up at the back.
Christian Eriksen – N/A
Too late to rate.
