Man City W vs Man United W: Match preview, head-to-head, team news, where to watch

Manchester United Women are back in action in the Barclays Women’s Super League on Saturday afternoon at rivals Manchester City.

United lost narrowly 1-0 in their last league meeting against Aston Villa, marking their first loss of the campaign across all competitions.

By contrast, Man City secured a 2-1 victory at Everton to climb to the top of the standings, overtaking Chelsea, who were held to a draw by Arsenal.

Match preview

United shook off the home defeat to Villa by beating Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 in the Women’s Champions League on Wednesday.

United will now hope to build on that momentum when they face City, who they beat in the corresponding fixture last term.

The Red Devils are the only side with a perfect away record in the division and have scored 27 goals on their travels in 2025 — the most in the division.

The Cityzens will provide a stern test for Marc Skinner’s side, given their brilliant start to the campaign and home form.

City have won seven and lost one of their opening eight games, with their only loss being September’s 2-1 defeat at Chelsea.

They are the competition’s top scorers with 20 goals and have conceded nine goals, three more than United.

Andree Jeglertz’s side did not play any midweek game, which could potentially hand them an advantage in this clash.

Team news

United are still assessing the fitness of goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce but Ella Toone has been passed fit after coming off the bench against PSG.

Celin Bizet Donnum remains a fitness doubt and Millie Turner is unavailable.

As for the hosts, ex-United captain Alex Greenwood, Mary Fowler, Kerolin and Lily Murphy are sidelined. However, former Red Grace Clinton, Lauren Hemp, Rebecca Knaak and Sydney Lohmann are in contention.

Where to watch

The game will be televised live in the UK on BBC One, BBC iPlayer and the BBC Sport website, while live radio commentary will be available on MUTV, ManUtd.com and in the United App.
