Major blow for Manchester United with Anthony Martial set to miss FA Cup final against Man City

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial will play no part in the FA Cup final against Manchester City due to a hamstring injury.

He picked up a hamstring injury in a 2-1 win over Fulham in United’s final Premier League match of the season last weekend.

A statement on Man United’s official website read: “Martial is out of Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup final against Manchester City due to injury.

“Assessments have revealed a muscle tear that rules the 27-year-old out of the Wembley showdown.”

Martial might have played his last United game

Martial faces an uncertain future at United after missing most of the campaign due to various injuries.

He has featured in 21 Premier League games this season but started only 11 of them.

The 27-year-old has bagged nine goals and three assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.

However, he is too unreliable United’s leading number nine.

If United want to compete for major silverware, they must be brutal in this transfer window.

The Red Devils should offload Martial for £15-20 million to increase their summer transfer budget.

His recent injury is a blow for Erik ten Hag. Lisandro Martinez, Antony, Donny van de Beek and Marcel Sabitzer are all on the sidelines.

With Martial set to miss the final, Ten Hag may use Marcus Rashford centrally. Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho could offer him support from the flanks.
