LVG: “We need to take our chances”

4700Louis Van Gaal revealed his frustration as Manchester United failed to take advantage of their rivals dropping points on Saturday.

Manchester City and Chelsea both lost but United could only muster a 0-0 draw against West Ham, which left them three points behind league leaders Leicester and only three points clear of fifth placed Spurs.

Van Gaal admitted he was upset by United’s inability to find a way through against Slaven Bilic’s side, although he insisted that was not down to United not playing attacking football.

“I think that we played a very good match, it’s only we have to score,” he said.

“You must score out of the kind of chances we created. You need to score, otherwise you cannot win, and it is very frustrating, also for the players because they want to score. We have to finish better than we did today.

“You can train every day on shooting at the goal and you have to know that we are doing that. We put players in the position to score but you need composure and luck to score.

“The most important thing is that we are creating and we are dominant. Today, we were dominant and attacking, we were creating chances – only we forgot to score.

“Of course it’s frustrating [that rivals dropped points] but I look first at my own team – that’s the most important thing.”
