LVG reveals Rooney demand

Wayne-Rooney-celebrates-a-009Manchester United secured their second consecutive win at Anfield thanks to a late Wayne Rooney goal on Sunday.

Louis Van Gaal claimed that he spoke with the United captain before the game and asked him to get a goal at a ground where he had not scored since 2005. Rooney, who missed a penalty in United’s 2-1 win at Anfield last season, duly delivered as United moved within two points of fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

“I am very pleased and he is very pleased also,” said the United manager.

“I asked him to score here and he makes a lot of goals now in a row. I think he is a fantastic Manchester United striker for the media but he was also that in the first half of the season.

“I am very pleased with the second half because Liverpool were, in the first half, the team that dominated and we had to survive. In the second half, we showed our way of playing and we can score out of every situation.”
