Luke Shaw will miss the remainder of Manchester United’s 2019-20 Europa League campaign through injury.
The defender will be out for the rest of the season, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed.
Shaw has not played since picking up an ankle injury in our 2-2 draw at home to Southampton a fortnight ago.
In his place, Brandon Williams started in our 2-0 win away to Leicester City on Sunday and Timothy Fosu-Mensah has also filled in for the England international on one occasion.
The boss gave an update to MUTV following yesterday’s win:
“Luke, unfortunately, will be out until next season. That is a blow for him and a blow for us.
“He has been fantastic.”
Luke Shaw had started all of our games following the restart prior to his injury.
Our Europa League campaign continues on Friday 5 August with the second leg of our Round of 16 tie with LASK, where we have a 5-0 aggregate lead.
Then the remainder of the tournament concludes in Germany, with our quarter-final versus either Istanbul or FC Copenhagen set for Monday 10 August 2020.
