Luke Shaw is available for selection when Manchester United return to Premier League action to take on Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday.
The 22-year-old has been sidelined with an ankle injury picked up versus Swansea City at the end of April.
Shaw has been in action for the under-23s over the past couple of weeks and now the boss has confirmed that he is available selection for for this weekend’s game.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday’s game, Mourinho told MUTV:
“He [Shaw] is not injured anymore so it is a question of form and it is a question of options. But he is not injured, he is recovered.”
Shaw will be competing with Daley Blind, Matteo Darmian and Ashley Young for the starting left-back role on Sunday when Everton come to town.
Blind has started three of our four Premier League matches so far this season, keeping a clean sheet in each. Matteo Darmian started last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Stoke City before Blind returned to the starting lineup on Tuesday in our 3-0 victory over FC Basel in the Champions League.
Ashley Young made his first appearance of the season midweek and played excellent at right-back. The 32-year-old has now put himself in contention to play either full-back role.
I don’t expect Shaw to start or even play at all this weekend. The England international will do well just to make the bench. However, I can see him making his return midweek when we take on Championship strugglers Burton Albion in the EFL Cup.
