‘Looks like a top player’ – Bryan Robson heaps praise on Manchester United star

Manchester United legend Bryan Robson has heaped praise on midfielder Bruno Fernandes shortly after he was named as the club’s Player of the Month for March.

The Portuguese has been in superb form for the Red Devils since his mid-season move from Sporting and he has already contributed three goals and four assists from just nine appearances in all competitions.

Fernandes was recently voted by the fans as the club’s Player of the Month for February and he has picked up the same accolade for March after beating the likes of Odion Ighalo, Fred and Harry Maguire to the prize.

Speaking to MUTV, Robson hailed the impact of the 25-year-old and compared the midfielder with United great Paul Scholes in terms of the quick movement from one side of the field to another.

“I think it’s been a terrific impact and the first signs are he looks like a top player. He is always on the move, always wanting the ball, has got a great touch and makes double movements, a bit like Scholesy used to do,” he told.

Fernandes has generally featured as the attacking midfielder following his January arrival and he has impressed with his fluidic movement and keen eye for passes in the final third of the pitch.

That has certainly improved the creativity when compared to the first half of the campaign where both Jesse Lingard and Andreas Pereira failed to impress with their contribution from the number 10 role.

Meanwhile, midfielder Paul Pogba is expected to return to the first-team fold (after his ankle surgery) when the season is restarted following the ongoing suspension for the coronavirus pandemic.

It will be exciting to watch the Frenchman combine with Fernandes on the field but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have a selection headache in the midfield, where everyone should be fit and available.
