Loan Watch: Sancho shows signs of improvement but Van de Beek continues to struggle

Manchester United loaned out Jadon Sancho and Donny van de Beek to Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt in January.

But neither player has made a huge impact for their respective clubs.

Sancho, who arrived at Old Trafford in a £73 million deal in 2021,  produced a disappointing performance in Dortmund’s Champions League draw against PSV Eindhoven

But he was better on Sunday, despite his side losing 3-2 to Hoffenheim.

The 23-year-old had 60 touches during the 75 minutes he was on the pitch. He won five of his six ground duels, completed four dribbles and managed an 88 percent pass success rate.

However, Sancho has yet to score his first goal in his seven appearances for Dortmund.

Van de Beek produced another uninspiring display in Frankfurt’s 2-2 draw with Wolfsburg.

The Dutchman missed the German side’s last three fixtures, but manager Dino Toppmoller started him on Sunday.

He failed to repay the faith of his manager as he couldn’t make an impact and was replaced by Fares CHaibi just after the hour mark.

Van de Beek had just 36 touches in the game and a pass accuracy of 83 percent. He was dribbled past once but completed a tackle and an interception.

The 26-year-old also won four of his five ground duels but lost possession on five occasions.

Frankfurt have the option to make his move permanent this summer, but this looks unlikely.
