Earlier today, Thiago, who was on United’s radar, joined the Merseyside club.
Jota’s move to the Anfield can be made easier by the arrival of Liverpool defender Ki-Jana Hoever to Wolves. The deal is said to be worth £10m, plus add-ons.
Diogo Jota has been a crucial part of Wolves rise from the obscurity of the Championship to be one of the top contenders for European spots.
Jota’s best abilities have become a symbol of the Wolves style of play.
Wolverhampton terrorized defenses with their lightning counters and accurate finishing, a quality which Jota embodies- and something top European sides look for in a forward.
His performances have earned him links to Manchester United and Liverpool.
Jota was a target for United in the first few weeks of the summer transfer window but the club’s obsession with Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho had not let the deal gain traction.
A move for Jota to Merseyside is an effort on Liverpool’s part to fix their lack of bench strength. The arrival of Thiago from Bayern Munich has also bolstered an already marauding team.
It seems as if United and Liverpool are drawing up the battle lines for not one but two transfer targets. Liverpool’s move for Jota and United’s recent interest in long-time Liverpool target Ismaila Sarr is all set to wage a war between long time rivals. It would be fun to see who wins.
