Manchester United and Liverpool kick off the Premier League weekend this Saturday lunchtime with second place at stake.
We head into the weekend with a two-point lead over our rivals who we held 0-0 at Anfield earlier in the season.
Prior to the game, Liverpool flop Dejan Lovren has fired the first shots by having a dig at Jose Mourinho’s tactics.
The Croatian international has struggled badly at Liverpool since joining in a £20 million deal from Southampton in 2014 and has only made 19 Premier League starts this season as a result of poor form.
Lovren had a dig at Jose for his ability to get a result in the big games. He is quoted by the Mirror as saying:
“Last time here, they defend really deep. So let’s see what happens now.
“For them it will be maybe a point good but for us, we never play for a point. We are there, we will give our best. We will play like we play every day — attacking football. Let’s enjoy.”
Dejan Lovren has failed to realise that Jose Mourinho’s tactics have won him three Premier League titles as well as further titles abroad, including the Champions League with FC Porto and Internazionale. That’s three more Premier League titles than Liverpool have in their history despite their massive spending over the years.
The 28-year-old went on to say:
“Maybe they are not in the best shape but still they win ugly. What matters is the points. It will be a tough challenge definitely.”
Manchester United fans will be wary of Liverpool’s attacking trio of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane who have played very well this season. At the same time, we’ll be wanting us to attack poor defenders like Dejan Lovren and Trent Alexander-Arnold who our stars clearly have the beating of.
