Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp pinpoints threat of two Man Utd stars ahead of Sunday’s game

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has pinpointed the threat of Manchester United duo Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes ahead of Sunday’s Premier League meeting at Anfield.

The Red Devils have been in fantastic form over the past few weeks and they recently ended their six-year trophy drought with a 2-0 win over Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final.

This was followed by an impressive 3-1 comeback triumph over West Ham United in the FA Cup fifth round and United will return to top-flight action against the Reds this weekend.

Ahead of the game, Klopp was full of praise for Rashford who has had a tremendous turnaround in his career after a poor 2021/22 season where he scored just five goal in all competitions.

The Reds manager said that he is ‘really happy’ for the United graduate and added that he is playing ‘incredible’ at the moment with his excellent scoring form for his club this term.

He said via BBC Sport: “I am really happy for Rashford because he had a very difficult last year where he was not performing on the level that he is able to perform.”

“Now he is playing incredible. His speed, his technique – it is a mix of everything, how calm he is in front of goal, he scores ‘worldies’, he scores the simple ones.”

Meanwhile, Klopp said that Liverpool also need to be wary of Bruno Fernandes who has been making regular goal contributions over the past few months.

He added: “I really like [Bruno] Fernandes. His movement is really smart. I like the way he shows up, all of a sudden he is there.”

Rashford and Fernandes will be aiming to impress on Sunday

Rashford has been in world-class form for United over the past few weeks. He already has 25 goals to his name for United which is his best-ever tally for a single season.

Hence, there were no surprises that he was named United’s Player of the Month for the third month running. With the way he is playing, Rashford could easily secure a fourth straight award.

The England international will be aiming to impress on Sunday. Liverpool are one of his favourite opponents with six goals so far and he should be fancied to find the back of the net again.

Meanwhile, Fernandes has been an unsung hero for United lately. He had a difficult start to the season without many goal involvements but continued to get the vote of confidence from Erik ten Hag.

The Portuguese is now back in form for the Red Devils. He has four goals and seven assists since the turn of the year and will be aiming to outwit Liverpool’s backline which has been vulnerable this term.
