Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall would be open to joining Manchester United this summer, according to The Sun.
The Red Devils have already reached a verbal agreement to sign Atalanta midfielder Ederson, and there will be many more arrivals.
A second marquee midfielder is United’s priority, but that number could potentially increase to three with Manuel Ugarte’s knee injury.
Meanwhile, a new left-back could be pursued to compete with Luke Shaw, given Patrick Dorgu is widely viewed as a left-sided winger.
Lewis Hall has been mentioned as a top target for United, and The Sun claim he would also be open to joining the Red Devils.
The Englishman, described as ‘fearless‘ by BBC Sport, wants to move to a Champions League club.
Newcastle could be reluctant to sell Hall
Hall made only 24 league starts for the Magpies last season. He was not an assured starter under manager Eddie Howe, but he remains highly valued for his young age and immense potential.
The Chelsea graduate won five duels and two tackles per league game last term. Hall also registered five recoveries on average and had a fairly good passing accuracy of 86 percent.
With Luke Shaw almost 31, United may want a proper successor in the squad. Hall has similar traits to Shaw and could become an undisputed left-back for the club in the long run.
However, we don’t see Newcastle considering his sale this summer. The Tyneside outfit have already sold winger Anthony Gordon to Barcelona in a deal worth £70 million.
Meanwhile, they have received big-money offers from Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal for Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes, respectively, and one of them is likely to depart.
Newcastle stand to secure £140-170m from player sales potentially, and this could close the door on Hall’s departure, given he has three more years remaining on his contract.
Earlier this month, The Athletic claimed that a £50m offer could test Newcastle’s resolve to keep Hall, but that route may be closed, with the Magpies poised to lose a marquee midfielder or probably two.
