Manchester United have sold Tunisia international midfielder Hannibal Mejbri to Burnley in an initial £5.4 million deal today.
The fee will potentially rise to £9.4m with additional sell-on and buy-back clauses.
The 21-year-old joined the Red Devils academy in 2019 from AS Monaco, making his first-team debut in May 2021, but ended up scoring just once in 13 times appearances.
Hannibal spent the 2022-23 campaign on loan with Birmingham City in the Championship and was with Sevilla for the second half of last season.
He will now look to establish himself as a regular player with the Clarets as they eye an instant return to the Premier League this term.
Man United players have been reacting to the departure of Hannibal on social media platform Instagram, with summer arrival Leny Yoro among those who posted messages.
Hannibal revealed earlier this month that he had struck up a friendship with the French centre-back, and the former Lille star will miss him from the look of things.
The 27-cap Tunisia international was far from pleased with his situation at Man United before leaving.
He opened up on his frustration at not getting more game time after a brilliant performance against Brighton & Hove Albion in September 2023 – when he scored his only goal for the Red Devils.
Hannibal made it clear that he was tired of sitting on the bench and watching others play, citing how Antony Elanga and Teden Mengi were forced to leave as a result of something similar.
The duo have gone on to become regulars at their new clubs after their Man United exits, and the midfielder will hope to follow suit.
