Manchester United are set to take on Leicester City in the final game of the 2019-20 Premier League season at the King Power Stadium next Sunday.
We are currently neck-and-neck in the race for a top four finish and Champions League football next season. The Foxes currently pip us to fourth place on goal difference: 3 better than us.
Both of us are only one point behind Chelsea in third too, each with just two league games to go.
Whilst Leicester travel to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League this weekend, both us and the Blues are in FA Cup semi-final action against each other at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
This has led to our penultimate Premier League game, against West Ham United, being rescheduled for Wednesday. This means we will have played an extra game since Leicester’s last match.
Chelsea’s match at Liverpool has been rescheduled for Wednesday too, before they host Wolverhampton Wanderers in their final game.
Brendan Rodgers’ side had an eight point lead over us when the league restarted last month, but a surprise defeat at Bournemouth and draws against Watford and Brighton & Hove Albion have allowed us to catch up.
Heading into our finale, Leicester have been handed a blow as it has been confirmed that two of their key players have been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
England left-back Ben Chilwell had missed their last three games since being taken off at half-time in their 3-0 win over Crystal Palace at the start of July.
James Maddison had missed Leicester’s past four games with a hip injury.
Leicester boss Rodgers confirmed the news to Sky Sports after their 2-0 win over Sheffield United on Thursday:
“Ben and James won’t play for the rest of the season. We’ve got a few injuries which have been unfortunate for us.”
