David Brooks is a hot name in the transfer market this summer. Brooks was sidelined for the majority of the season. After returning from injury, he looked good after lockdown. Bournemouth missed a chance to Premier League survival and were demoted to the Championship.
The Cherries have already lost Nathan Ake, Jermain Defoe, Ryan Fraser, Aaron Ramsdale and Callum Wilson in the transfer window. Josh King is touted to move to Aston Villa too. There is a heavy exodus going on at the Vitality Stadium.
Last month, Brooks was linked to Manchester United as the Red Devils refused to pay Jadon Sancho’s £108 asking price.
Today, reports suggest that Leicester City are leading the transfer chase to sign the Welsh winger.
The upside to signing Brooks is massive. At just 23, he is a fantastic player and already a key figure in Ryan Giggs’ Wales side. Also, he was a standout player during his first season in the Premier League with Bournemouth, adapting seamlessly to Premier League life following his switch from Sheffield United.
MEN reported that the 23-year old to encounter a transfer deal from the Foxes in the coming weeks. With United still prioritizing to bring Sancho to Old Trafford over any other transfer moves, David Brooks seems to be heading over to the King Power for his next endeavour.
Bournemouth manager, Jason Tindall had acknowledged the possibility of the club letting the players go if their asking price was met.
“I think first and foremost there’s a lot that’s got to happen,” Tindall said.
“We as a football club have got a value of what we believe for our players and if that value is met then players have got the opportunity to then discuss with whoever they need to discuss with and then make the decision they feel is right for them.
“But first and foremost, it needs to be right for the football club and once it’s right for the football club then, as you’ve seen in the past, I don’t think it’s a club that will stand in anybody’s way providing that the club’s happy with and it meets the valuation of the player.
“Until any offers come in for any players then they remain in Bournemouth regardless anyway. The squad are happy here.
“I think when you’ve got that purpose as a player where you’re going into a season where you’re looking to be successful and achieve something, I think it’s a great thing to have and people want to be a part of that.”
As per Transfermarkt, Brooks is valued at £18m.
