Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero is expected to snub a move to Leeds United and stay at Old Trafford next season.
The report of Leeds trying to sign the Argentine goalkeeper was broken by ESPN in July 2020, With the recently promoted club looking to add to their shot-stopping arsenal despite having Kiko Casilla and Ilian Meslier as options in that area. However, Romero is a better keeper than Casilla and Meslier.
This latest news would come as a blow to the East Midland’s club who as reported by The Daily Mail are now going to look for reinforcements elsewhere.
While Leeds are a big club, United are a massive team and a global brand and next season are going to play in the Champions League and are also hoping to challenge for the Premier League title and other domestic cups. United’s hierarchy would not like to sell Romero to another Premier League side, especially Leeds with whom they share old rivalry and bitter memories.
Romero is expected to stick around at Manchester United, With the costly errors of David De Gea gaining him criticism from all parts of the footballing world and Dean Hendersen likely to be out on loan next season, The prospect of the having the No 1 position would be on the back of the Argentine’s mind when he thinks about committing his future to the club.
