Transfer Rumours

Leeds United would be ‘over the moon’ if the club signs Manchester United defender, says Alan Hutton

Leeds United has been busy in the transfer market recently and it has been reported a centre back could be next on their shopping list.

The 22-year-old English defender has been highly regarded at Old Trafford. But United is currently in the market for another player to bolster their defence.

Despite being kept in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first-team squad last season, injuries restricted the centre-back to just seven starts and three substitute outings in all competitions.

According to The Athletic’s Phil Hay, Tuenzuebe’s name has been put forward as a target at Elland Road.

Tuanzebe flourished out on loan at Villa between January 2018 and May 2019. Many believe it is exactly what the young Englishman needs again.

Alan Hutton, for one, would be over the moon with this move. Hutton, who played alongside the promising defender 23 times during their time together at Villa Park, believes he would quickly become a fan favourite at Elland Road.

In an exclusive interview with Football Insider when asked if Axel would be a good signing for Leeds, Alan Hutton claimed, “Oh, 100 per cent.”

He further went on to say, “For one so young, he had such an old head on his shoulders. He was strong, he was very, very quick, he was good with the ball – he was everything that you want in a top centre-half and he was willing to learn and work.

“He was constantly in the gym, he did everything right, he had a great mentality. I think if Leeds can get him, they’d be over the moon with that.”
