Manchester United’s transfer window was the poorest of all its rivals. The Red Devils missed out on all their top targets – Nathan Ake, Jadon Sancho, Dayot Upamecano, and Jack Grealish. All this while the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City and Arsenal strengthened their team.
A leading European agent told The Athletic:
The problem of Manchester United is they do not have a clear sport strategy. When you talk to United, you are not talking to football people. This is a pity because they are such a big club, such a historical club.
Its true. United are one of the top clubs in Europe and everyone agrees to it. Irrespective of this, the quality United possess is shambolic.
Even the players have started questioning whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a top manager or not.
Ole was not backed in the transfer window and dark clouds surround Old Trafford. A top four finish, a successful Champions League path to the knockout stages and maybe a domestic cup win is what every fan is hoping for. But, deep down, we all know United will underperform due to the lack of squad depth and the quality.
