Manchester United have announced midfielder Kobbie Mainoo as the club’s Player of the Month for September.
Mainoo won the award with 82 percent of the votes, while Matheus Cunha finished second with 13 percent and Youri Tielemans third with five percent.
The England international also finished second behind captain Bruno Fernandes in August’s poll, highlighting his brilliant start to the season.
Mainoo started September with a brilliant display at Everton, providing the assist for Bryan Mbeumo’s opener, registering his only goal involvement of the season.
The 21-year-old did not provide a goal or an assist in the Champions League thrashing of Azerbaijani side Sabah FK. Still, he impressed manager Michael Carrick, who described him as a ‘fantastic player‘ after the game.
Mainoo was one of the few United players who stood out in the derby defeat to Manchester City, earning the praise of Elliot Anderson, who enjoyed the midfield battle with the youngster.
The United academy graduate rounded off the month with a scintillating outing at Fulham, getting plaudits from the away fans after his substitution.
Mainoo has now won Man United’s Player of the Month award on two occasions, having also been its recipient in January 2024.
His contribution was also recognised at the international level after being called up for England’s UEFA Nations League games against Spain, Czechia, and Croatia.
However, Mainoo has since pulled out of the Three Lions’ squad due to injury, along with forward Marcus Rashford.
The England-born midfielder will be hoping to regain fitness before the Premier League visit of Tottenham Hotspur on October 10.
