Kim Min-jae has accepted transfer to Man Utd, Man Utd ready to trigger €56m release clause

Napoli defender Kim Min-jae has ‘accepted the transfer’ to Manchester United this summer, Italian publication Il Mattino claim.

The centre-back has been identified as the Red Devils’ prime defensive target and it was recently reported that the South Korean has been ‘convinced‘ to move to Old Trafford.

It is now claimed that the 26-year-old has given the go-ahead for a transfer. In turn, United have informed Napoli that they are ready to meet his €56 million buy-out clause in full.

Kim Min-jae’s move to Man Utd could depend on UCL football

Min-jae has been constantly linked with a move to United over the past few weeks but a deal can’t be completed until July 1-15 when his foreign release clause will be active.

A move may also depend on a top-four Premier League finish. In a recent interview with Star News, a staff from Kim’s entourage hinted that Champions League football could be key.

Hence, United have work to do to land the South Korean star. In our opinion, the club should beat Liverpool to the final Champions League place which could pave the way for the transfer.

Min-jae would be a superb acquisition for United with his strong defensive skills. He has completed 91 per cent of his passes this term with an average of 1.6 tackles and 4.7 duels won.

The central defender has also completed 3.6 clearances per outing. In our view, he would be a perfect competitor for the injury-prone Raphael Varane and could push for a starting role.

Meanwhile, his arrival could lead to the departure of Harry Maguire this summer.
