Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane this summer.
Manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly a huge admirer of the 29-year-old, but the Red Devils have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of the striker.
According to The Telegraph, Kane is open to running down his contract with Tottenham.
With his current deal expiring in June 2024, chairman Daniel Levy will be under pressure to decide whether to accept bids for him this summer.
The England international is not expected to pen an extension at Spurs, who are very likely to miss out on the Champions League next season.
He will be able to talk to foreign clubs about a pre-contract in January if the two parties still fail to agree a new deal.
Levy will sell Kane this summer
Levy is known for being a tough negotiator. Manchester City were ready to pay £127 million for Kane two years ago, but he resisted their advances.
The 61-year-old will only allow the club’s most prized asset to leave for a huge transfer fee.
However, keeping Kane for another season would mean he would depart in 2024 without Spurs receiving a fee.
Given that Levy is a shrewd businessman, he most likely sell Kane this summer.
