Juventus eyeing a deal for €35m Manchester United midfielder

As per Calciomercato, Juventus are likely to offer a loan deal for Donny Van de Beek with an option to buy for €35m. Van de Beek could re-unite with Ajax teammate Matthijs de Ligt if he joins the Old Lady.

The story further suggests that Andrea Pirlo could nourish Van de Beek’s potential in a better way than that of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Van de Beek joined United from Ajax last summer. The Red Devils had to pay an initial transfer fee of €39m to acquire the Dutchman’s services.

The Dutchman was brought in to provide squad depth and add a unique dynamic skillset to United’s midfield.

His start to United’s career hasn’t been the best. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has taken some time to trust him and give him minutes on the pitch.

Since moving to the Mancunian club, Van de Beek has played 564 minutes of football across all competitions.

His agent has spoken out about the perceived mistreatment and lack of playing time. United legend Patrice Evra also raised concerns over the impact he could have on the team after failing to start a Premier League game in the initial days of his time at United.

However, his performances in the games he played were decent. He provides a spark to United’s midfield and remains a constant threat in the final third. His defensive display against Istanbul Baseksahir proves there’s so much more he could offer.

Van de Beek was given his first league start in a 3-2 win against Southampton last weekend. He displayed he is an archetypal midfield maestro.

He possesses all the traits to thrive under Solskjaer at United. We’d be shocked if he leaves the club in January or next summer.
