Jose Mourinho has sent a stern warning to Manchester United about reported Erik Ten Hag target Victor Osimhen.
United boss Ten Hag wants to bring the 24-year-old striker to Old Trafford for around €100 million (£90m) in the summer transfer window (ESPN).
Getting the addition of an elite centre-forward over the line before the start of next season is arguably Ten Hag’s most pressing priority.
Jose Mourinho sends Manchester United a big Victor Osimhen warning
Osimhen would be an incredible addition for the Red Devils. He’s powerful, quick and a superb finisher.
Described as an ‘explosive’ striker by The Sun and ‘deadly’ by Yahoo Sports, Osimhen is one of the very best around.
However, Man United have been sent a stern warning about signing the Nigeria international by one of their ex-managers.
Mourinho’s Roma side lost 2-1 to Napoli last night in an absolute cracker at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Osimhen was superb for the Serie A leaders, scoring a brilliant goal to put his team ahead in the first half.
The ex-United boss congratulated Napoli and Osimhen after the game, but he did have a big warning for Ten Hag. He told reporters:
“He is of the same level as Drogba, but Didier didn’t dive. If Victor changes, then OK. I’d buy him if I was at a club with a lot of money. However, if he does go to England one day, he needs to change, because in Italy they put up with this sort of behaviour, whereas in the Premier League, they’d come down hard on him. I told him that he scored a wonderful goal and needs to stop diving so much. His goal was fantastic, he did the same thing when we met earlier this season, so he’s a fantastic player. But he mustn’t dive.”
Despite what Mourinho said about his diving, Osimhen would be an outstanding addition for United.
However, Mourinho is spot on in the sense that the Nigerian will have to change his game to adapt to the Premier League.
