Jose Grants Daley Blind Permission to Speak to Barcelona

Manchester United defender Daley Blind has been linked with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona in recent months.

The Dutch international has been used less and less by Jose Mourinho as the season has gone by, sparking speculation that he could be on his way out of Old Trafford.

Although Daley Blind has been used at centre-back, left-back and holding midfield under the Portuguese coach, many feel he is not a Mourinho-type player.

Given his lack of playing time and Barcelona’s interest it would seem to be a great opportunity for us to cash in on the Dutch international before his contract runs down.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo (as reported by Team Talk) are now reporting that Jose has given the 27-yeard-old permission to speak to Barcelona with the Spanish club reportedly prepared to offer €15 million (£13.3m) for Blind.

The La Liga leaders’ style of football may be better suited to Blind than what Mourinho plays at Old Trafford, as he is comfortable on the ball and perfectly capable of bringing it forward from the back.  Whereas his lack of height and pace has seen him exposed at times in England.

When fit we currently have a number of players who can play across the back four meaning that we wouldn’t be majorly affected by Daley Blind’s departure if he were to join Barcelona as early as this month.
