Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are the front three for Manchester United this evening as we are at Brighton & Hove Albion, looking to wrap up second place with a victory.
In yesterday’s press conference Jose Mourinho confirmed that Romelu Lukaku would miss this evening’s game at the Amex Stadium with the ankle injury he picked up in our win over Arsenal last weekend.
However, it came as a surprise to see Alexis Sanchez’s name missing from the matchday squad.
Speaking in a pre-match interview prior to kickoff of this evening’s game, Jose confirmed that Alexis is injured and hasn’t travelled down south with the rest of the squad.
Jose said:
“We want to win and we think that this is the best team. Of course, Alexis and Lukaku have injuries, so they weren’t an option, but we believe in these players.”
Since joining Manchester United in January, the only game Alexis Sanchez has missed was our 2-0 win at Bournemouth in a midweek game in mid-April where he was an unused substitute.
