The Manchester United lineup has been announced for this afternoon’s trip to the AMEX Stadium to take on Brighton & Hove Albion.
One notable absence from today’s matchday squad is Alexis Sanchez. The forward wasn’t involved in the World Cup over the summer and played the full 90 minutes in our 2-1 win over Leicester City last Friday.
However, it is Anthony Martial who starts down the left of our front three today, alongside Romelu Lukaku and Juan Mata. Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard are on the bench who can play out on the wing.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Jose Mourinho has confirmed why the Chilean is absent. The boss said:
“Alexis was going to play but he had a little problem, so we had to decide to give an opportunity to another attacking player.”
Anthony Martial will make his 100th appearance for Manchester United today.
Jesse Lingard is on the bench having missed the matchday squad last weekend due to a knock picked up at the World Cup. We wouldn’t expect the England international to make an appearance today subject to injuries.
