Jose confirms Zlatan’s return

Manchester United were comfortable 2-0 winners over Leicester City earlier today to maintain our place at the top of the Premier League.

That’s three wins out of three having scored 10 goals and keeping a clean sheet in each game.

Jose Mourinho was happy with the team’s performance in his post-match interview with BT Sport.

The boss was then asked about Zlatan Ibrahimovic.  The Swede signed a one-year deal with us on Thursday until the end of the 2017-18 season.  However, there has been no certainty over when his return will be.  The 35-year-old suffered knee ligament damage in our Europa League quarter-final second leg victory over Anderlecht at Old Trafford on 20 April.

Speaking after today’s game, Mourinho was able to confirm that Ibrahimovic will be back in January.  He told BT Sport:

“He will be back in January. When the market is open and people are spending money we don’t. But we get a player who was fundamental for us last season. He comes to give us extra quality in the second half of the season.”

Whilst he won’t be fit to play any games over the next four months or so, Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s experience and leadership will be of great benefit to us.  He’ll be able to offer advice and guidance to the younger players in the squad, particularly to Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford up front.
