Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Manuel Ugarte’s agent is in England to discuss a move to Manchester United, according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The 23-year-old has agreed personal terms with Man United weeks ago and PSG want to sell him.
The French club want around £51 million, but the Red Devils are hoping the fee is reduced given that he is surplus to requirements.
Man United are also considering other options, with Nottingham Forest star Danilo the latest player to be linked with them. Burnley’s Serge Berge remains on their radar.
Jorge Mendes jetting into the United Kingdom could be good news for the Old Trafford club as he could be looking to get them to structure a deal PSG will accept.
It initially appeared that the Red Devils had moved on from Ugarte, but the talks with his agent could now get things back on track.
Ugarte wants to join Man United but PSG must to be willing to sell him for a reasonable price for that to happen before the summer transfer window closes.
The South American will help improve their fortunes on the pitch given his qualities and experience, and manager Erik ten Hag will hope a deal can go through.
The Red Devils have spent around £155m this summer after signing Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.
They will have to make more sales to have a chance of buying Ugarte for the fee PSG are demanding or move on and sign a cheaper option.
