Jean-Clair Todibo was one step away from joining Man Utd, now has his sights on Juventus move

Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo wants to join Juventus this summer after his move to Manchester United was blocked due to UEFA rules, according to Gazzetta dello Sport (page 12).

The France international was a top target for the Red Devils last summer, but a deal did not materialise due to the lack of funds.

United were hoping to part ways with Harry Maguire, but the former captain opted to stay and fight for his future.

Todibo was reportedly ‘one step away’ from joining the Red Devils this summer. The club were prepared to pay the £34 million asking price, but the move was blocked by UEFA due to concerns over the ownership.

United and Nice are currently controlled by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS. With both teams competing in the Europa League next season, there has apparently been an agreement with UEFA that no transfers will be completed between them this summer.

Todibo, who was reportedly frustrated with the blocked transfer, has now told Nice that he wants to join Juventus. The former Barcelona man has already agreed terms with the Bianconeri over a long-term contract.

Juventus recently offered to sign Todibo on loan with an option to buy which was turned down. Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli is now trying to find a different solution to reach an agreement with Nice.

Man Utd set to miss out on Todibo

United are in the transfer market for multiple centre-backs this summer. They are engaged in negotiations with Bayern Munich for Matthijs de Ligt and could find an agreement soon.

The club have also agreed a transfer fee with Lille for Leny Yoro, but the teenager has yet to commit to them. He could choose between the Red Devils and Real Madrid in the coming days.

Todibo would have been a fantastic acquisition for United. The Frenchman is a strong ball-playing centre-back who has the ability to make regular ball recoveries and clearances.

UEFA rules have blocked the Red Devils from pursuing his signature. Todibo appears reluctant to wait for a resolution and has already decided to join the Bianconeri.

United need to move on from the setback. The fans will be hoping that the Red Devils can sign both De Ligt and Yoro as soon as possible to integrate them into their pre-season plans.
