Jason Wilcox and Matt Hargreaves to enter talks with Jadon Sancho, Man Utd exit ‘problematic’ due to high wages

Manchester United are preparing to enter discussions with Jadon Sancho regarding his future at Old Trafford.

According to ESPN, a departure from United remains the most likely outcome but his high market value and massive wages make a permanent transfer problematic.

Technical director Jason Wilcox and director of football negotiations Matt Hargreaves will discuss the situation with Sancho and his representatives before the start of pre-season training.

United players not participating in international tournaments this summer are scheduled to return to the club next month.

The Premier League giants would ideally prefer to have more clarity on Sancho’s situation ahead of their first friendly against Rosenborg in Norway on July 15.

Man Utd will most likely book a loss on Sancho

The England international moved to Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth £73 million in 2021.

Sancho tallied 12 goals and six assists in 82 appearances for the Red Devils,

He rejoined Dortmund on loan in the January transfer window after a public fallout with Erik ten Hag.

Dortmund are interested in signing the player, but they prefer another loan deal. Sancho’s current contract with United runs until 2026.

Sending the 24-year-old on loan again is not a financially lucrative option for United.

The hierarchy faces a pivotal decision with two distinct paths to resolve the situation.

The first option is to reintegrate the forward into the first team after making a truce between the player and the manager.

The second option is to offload Sancho in a permanent transfer this summer. United could use the funds to buy a striker to support Rasmus Hojlund.

There are major doubts over Ten Hag’s future and his position under review right now.

If United decide to move on from him, Sancho could return to Old Trafford.
