Transfer Rumours

Januzaj set for loan spell

70921.3Adnan Januzaj is set to be loaned out in the January transfer window as the Belgium international clearly does not feature in Louis Van Gaal’s plans.

One, if not the only, positive of David Moyes’ tenure at Manchester United, Januzaj has struggled for opportunities under Van Gaal, starting only two Premier League games and playing a meagre 27 minutes from the first week of November, despite the catalogue of injuries that affected United.

According to the Daily Mail, Van Gaal has told Woodward that he does not deem the 19-year-old adequate to the wing-back role, while Januzaj has also fallen behind Wayne Rooney, Angel Di Maria and Juan Mata in the pecking order for the number 10 role. Januzaj might benefit from a loan spell, though his fall from grace over the last six months is puzzling, particularly considering United have desperately lacked pace this season and look to have been found out by opponents, who are now happy to sit back as United struggle to break defences down.

The Belgian is clearly not suited to the wing-back role and Van Gaal’s decision to allow him to go out on loan makes a change of formation unlikely in the short-term future.
